Comparison

Every video host
bills you differently.

There are only two models. You either pay a flat price for a shelf, or you pay a meter that runs while people watch. Here is what each one charges, read off their own pricing pages on 1 October 2026.

Flat plans

You buy an amount of storage. What happens after that is the difference between them.

HostFromStorageWhat counts as storageBandwidthTranscodingSeats
fastmotion $19 a month 250 GB to 10 TB Every quality we produce Unlimited None Not charged per seat
Vimeo $12 per seat a month 2 TB to 7 TB The file you upload 2 TB a month on self serve plans None 1, 5 and 10 seats by plan
Wistia $79 a month, billed annually From 250 GB The file you upload Not published None From 3 users
SproutVideo $15 a month 150 GB to 2 TB The file you upload 1.8 TB to 24 TB a month None 2 to 50 seats by plan

Metered platforms

No plan to pick. You are billed for what is stored and for what gets watched.

PlatformStorageDeliveryEncodingBilled in
Cloudflare Stream $5 per 1,000 minutes stored, each month $1 per 1,000 minutes delivered Free Minutes of video
Mux From $0.0024 per minute stored, each month From $0.0008 per minute delivered, first 100,000 free Free on basic quality Minutes of video, multiplied by resolution
Bunny Stream From $0.01 per GB stored, each month From $0.005 per GB delivered Free Gigabytes

One library, priced seven ways

Rates are hard to compare in the abstract, so here is a single case costed on each one. Assumptions: a library of 100 hours of 1080p video, and 2,000 hours watched a month, which is about 2.25 TB delivered at an average of 2.5 Mbps. Storage works out at roughly 200 GB of source, or 361 GB once every quality is produced.

HostMonthlyHow it lands there
Bunny Stream about $15 361 GB stored at $0.01, then 2.25 TB delivered at $0.005, at the cheapest regional rate.
Mux about $30 6,000 minutes stored at $0.0024, then 20,000 chargeable minutes at $0.0008. Multiply by 1.25 for 1080p.
SproutVideo $45 a month The 400 GB plan holds the source files and its 4.8 TB of bandwidth covers the viewing.
fastmotion $49 a month The 1 TB plan holds every quality we produce. Viewing is not billed, so this number does not move.
Wistia $79 a month The Business plan, billed annually. Storage fits.
Cloudflare Stream about $150 6,000 minutes stored at $5 per thousand, then 120,000 minutes delivered at $1 per thousand.
Vimeo Plan change needed Storage fits the $12 plan, but 2.25 TB of viewing is over the 2 TB monthly bandwidth limit on self serve plans.

These are estimates from published rates, not quotes. Change the viewing figure and the order changes with it: at a tenth of the traffic the metered platforms are the cheapest things on the page, and at ten times it they are the most expensive.

Which one to actually pick

If you are building a product and video is one feature inside it, look at Mux or Cloudflare Stream. They are APIs first, the documentation is written for engineers, and you will be assembling the experience yourself. You will also be watching a meter.

If video is your marketing and you need lead capture, CTAs in the player and a CRM integration, Wistia and Vimeo are built for that team and we are not.

If you already run infrastructure and just want cheap parts, Bunny Stream is hard to beat on raw price. You will do more of the wiring.

If you want a link that works and a bill that stays still, that is us. You upload a file, we produce every quality, and you get an address that plays everywhere. Nothing is public unless you say so, and the invoice does not change when a video takes off.

We are not the cheapest host on this page and we do not claim to be. We are the one where you already know what next month costs.

Questions

Why do the storage numbers not line up?
Because hosts count different things. Vimeo, Wistia and SproutVideo count the file you upload. We count every quality we produce from it, which is roughly twice the source for a 1080p file. Cloudflare Stream and Mux ignore bytes entirely and count minutes of video instead.
Is a meter always more expensive?
No. If almost nobody watches your videos, a meter is cheaper, sometimes much cheaper. The meter gets expensive exactly when a video does well, which is the moment you least want a surprise.
What is a transcoding fee?
A charge for turning your upload into the versions a player can stream. Some platforms bill it per minute of input. Nobody in this table charges it any more, but it is worth checking before you sign anything.
How current are these numbers?
Every rate here was read off the provider's own pricing page on 1 October 2026, and each row links to the page it came from. Prices change. Check the link before you make a decision.
